Expomark Events Accelerate Finland’s Hydrogen Leap
Finland is undergoing a remarkable hydrogen leap – and Expomark is right at its core. The company is driving the growth of the hydrogen cluster and bringing together the sector’s leading experts through four high-level professional events. These gatherings create networks, spark new ideas and partnerships, and help propel the entire hydrogen economy forward.
If the Finnish Hydrogen Cluster’s (Suomen vetyklusteri ry) plans are realised, the hydrogen economy could be worth as much as €16–34 billion by 2035 and employ more than 100,000 people. Expectations for hydrogen are high – it has even been compared to “the new Nokia”.
Collaboration – the Engine of the Hydrogen Leap
To make this vision a reality, Finland must accelerate the growth of clean industries, expand domestic hydrogen production, and boost exports of hydrogen technologies. Equally essential is collaboration – and that happens when stakeholders across the field meet face to face.
“Hydrogen plays a crucial role in Finland’s green transition. When technology, research and industry come together around the same table, it drives growth, innovation, employment and exports,” says Lumia Ankkuri, CEO of Expomark.
Expomark’s events bring together experts, companies, project consortia, decision-makers and the public sector. Seminars and informal discussions offer opportunities to make connections, find partners and share experiences – the kind of insights that don’t emerge from behind one’s own desk.
“Events are not a side stage of the hydrogen leap – they are accelerators of success in the hydrogen economy,” Ankkuri adds.
Energy and Cooperation for the Future
Hydrogen is used to produce fuels, chemicals and even food. It enables the storage of surplus energy and helps reduce the use of fossil fuels in heavy industry and transport.
Finland aims to take a leading position in Europe’s hydrogen economy across the entire value chain. Hydrogen technologies and related solutions will feature even more prominently in Expomark’s events as this goal progresses.
Expomark has strong roots as an organiser of energy-sector events, and hydrogen forms a natural part of this continuum. The company has helped to create new forums where research, industry and the public sector can meet and accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon energy system.

Energy and the hydrogen economy are among the main themes of the Technology event, with content focusing on industrial energy solutions, energy efficiency and the green transition. Showcasing hydrogen solutions as part of a broader technology context strengthens companies’ ability to build seamlessly integrated, resource-efficient and future-oriented systems.
• Nordic Hydrogen Week – Oulu, 10–12 February 2026 | nordichydrogenweek.expomark.fi
This growing international forum strongly supports Finland’s leading role in the northern hydrogen economy. The three-day event includes the Northern Power Forum with its exhibition and networking sessions, a Hydrogen Research Day, several seminars and study visits to key sites. The event is now organised jointly by BusinessOulu and Expomark Oy.
• EnergyWeek – Vaasa, 16–19 March 2026 | energyweek.fi
The Nordic region’s most significant networking and sales event for the energy sector, held in Vaasa. The week’s themes include wind and renewable energy, energy storage and clean gas energy. The event is delivered in cooperation with around 40 industry partners; Expomark is responsible for the exhibition and part of the seminar programme.
EnergyWeek’s strength lies in its broad network of organisers: Vaasanseudun Kehitys Oy VASEK, the Ostrobothnia Chamber of Commerce and Expomark Oy, alongside Merinova, the initiator of the EnergyVaasa cluster. EnergyWeek is highly international, and its working language is English.

The Energy Event is Finland’s leading energy-sector event and has been the industry’s trendsetter for more than 30 years. The exhibition, expert presentations and seminars cover the full spectrum of the energy field, including the hydrogen economy. The event offers comprehensive information and solutions for energy professionals, industrial companies and large properties, addressing topics such as the circular economy, sustainable development and climate change. The extensive exhibition is complemented by seminars and side events including the World Energy Council’s Energy Day and Promaint ry’s Energy Congress.
